Outdoor Brochure Dispenser

Are you needing some information? Come check out our new outdoor brochure dispeners in front of our office.  I thought that is could be a way that visitors and community members can still have access to maps, attraction brochurs, and business information on the weekends or after hours when the office is closed.
They are located at the East end of our building at 331 E. Wichita, Russell.

Robert J. Dole Courthouse Square

Today, I took a trip the Russell County Courthouse where I saw the newly carved limestone post of Bob Dole. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see it you should take a trip up to the courthouse to check it out!! It is a pretty neat and unique limestone!!

401 Main Street is where the Courthouse is located!

First Home in Russell County!

The first log cabin house in Russell County!

Can you imagine the stories and the history that the first log cabin have developed over the years?
I was on my way to Luray, Kansas and when I saw the log cabin, I just had to stop.  I have heard some of the history about the log cabin but I have always wanted to experience the history myself.  As I was walking around the cabin, I could only imagine the stories that this cabin have developed over the years.

If you are a history buff or looking for something to do with your family this weekend, take a ride along K-18 highway and visit the first log cabin in Russell County!!  The cabin is open to walk-in visitors where one can only imagine life of the very first families to come to Russell County and what started the community of Luray, Kansas!!!

Northwest Kansas

You can’t say there isn’t anything to see in Northwest Kansas!  Russell County is an active member of the Northwest Kansas Travel Council and today the meeting was in Oakley.  I got to ride along with Amanda to the meeting and we stopped to see Monument Rocks (just South of Oakley).
The Monument Rocks are formed from deposits left by the western interior sea that covered the area in ancient days. These large chalk formations are STUNNING!  If you are ever near Oakley, check them out.  You can learn more about places to explore in NW KS by “liking” Northwest Kansas Travel on Facebook.

Beautiful Fall Workout…..

Fall is in the air, so what better way to enjoy the beautiful FALL weather than a good workout!  This morning I headed out to Russell Regional Hospital’s outdoor walking trail.  What a great track!  They also have at least 7 different work out stations to work your legs, arms, abs, etc. I recommend you make a stop at the RRH outdoor walking trail!  I had a great workout this morning and I’m ready to tackle the rest of the week now!
