My next exploration…. Diamond S. Vineyard & Winery, right here in Russell. One of the newest wineries in Kansas! I even brought along my friend, Roger Hrabe, from Rooks County Economic Development. It was both Roger and I’s first time at the winery and we had soooo much fun with Elsa. She does a great job of helping you find your FAVORITE wines, but she doesn’t have to work too hard because all of the wines are FABULOUS! So, if you are looking for a FUN and RELAXING Fall activity, the winery is the place to be, if I do say so myself 😉
Russell hosted the Northwest Kansas Travel Council meeting today at Lasada and I was there! It was a great meeting. They just completed the NEW Ultimate Guide. It is an attractive marketing tool for NW Kansas and you can check it out on their website!
Scott & Roxanne Young, owners of Lasada, made an EXCELLENT meal for us and Scott spoke about all the great things they provide at Lasada! Jim Millensifer was also there to inform us on the latest details with the KS Governor’s Ringneck Classic in Oakley. It will be held on November 18-20. Linda Brant brought DELICIOUS meats from Brant’s Meat Market! They are located in Lucas, KS and have been in business for 89 years. Afterwards, everyone visited Diamond S Vineyard & Winery. It was a day full of RUSSELL COUNTY FUN!
I would like to thank the travel council for everything they do for Northwest Kansas! Follow them on Facebook. You will find that there is lots to see and do in NW KS!
I joined the K-18/Moonshiners Bar from Lucas this morning! They taught me how to do some REAL BBQing. It smells so good down here! If you love BBQ, come out to Russell today and get the best in the area!!

Join me downtown tomorrow for the Flatland Car Show and Sanctioned BBQ Contest!
I know, it doesn’t look good does it? You would think I am in a little bit of trouble, but I am actually at the Russell County Sheriff’s Office getting fingerprinted as the Newest Russell County Employee. Nathan Keener, Court Security, assisted me with the finger printing. He did an excellent job!
Max Barrett (Undersheriff) and a few other officers stopped in to say hi as well. If you ever see these guys out and about make sure you stop and thank them for serving and protecting Russell County. They do a great job! Check them out on the Russell County Sheriff Department website 🙂
It is Russell High School Homecoming week! At the end of the week the stands will be FULL of Bronco fans cheering on their team to victory! The coronation of King and Queen begins at 6:30 and the kick off is at 7pm Friday, Sept. 19. The Broncos will be taking on the Minneapolis Lions.
Don’t miss the Homecoming Parade at 2:30 on Friday, you just might see me there 😉
