Lemonade Stand!!!

Last Friday, to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week and that I received 140 likes on my Facebook page, I hosted a free lemonade stand!!!  We had regular and pink lemonade and I also talked Megan into making some yummy cupcakes! The pink lemonade was my favorite!!

The lemonade stand went from 12pm to 5pm and it was a come and go event.  Throughout the lemonade stand, we had around 25 people who showed up and it was a great event!!  Also if you keep following me, we just might do this again!!!

I want to thank everyone that liked my Facebook page and that helped Me, Janae, Megan, and Ashley celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week!!! We appreciate everyone that came out and supported us!!!!

What’s Up In Russell Coffee

This morning, we sponsored the What’s Up In Russell Coffee at the Deines Cultural Center.  It was a great way to wrap up National Travel and Tourism Week.  I couldn’t ask for a better event!!!  It was a beautiful morning, over 60 people, yummy treats and coffee and a very wonderful program!!

We a had a few special guest that stopped by this  morning.  We had Rosslyn from the Grassroots Art Center and Lynn from the Garden of Eden to let everyone know about the upcoming events and about the attractions in Lucas, KS.  Marcie Adler that works with Bob Dole.  Dustin Poche stopped by to talk about his art display called Pandora’s by Poche in the Deines Cultural Center.  The art display will be on display from now to May 31.  Dustin is a Russell Native and last April he started working on his new project…the Pandoras.  He decided that he wanted to have his first art show to be in his home town. 
Troy Waymaster also announces his candidacy for the 110th Kansas House District congressional seat.

We would like send a special thanks to Jim and Cindy from Espresso Etc. for the coffee and Sharon Collins from Simply Divine for the yummy cupcakes and cake pops!!!

Are you needing some information? Come check out our new outdoor brochure dispeners in front of our office.  I thought that is could be a way that visitors and community members can still have access to maps, attraction brochurs, and business information on the weekends or after hours when the office is closed.

Two Primary Incentives
**A state income tax exemption for up to 5 years to individuals who move to a ROZ county from outside of Kansas.  Individuals must not have lived in Kansas for the past 5 years, nor have Kansas source income of more than $10,000 per year over the past 5 years.
**Student loan forgiveness of up to $3,000 per year ($15,000 maximum benefit) for individuals who graduate from an accredited post-secondary institution and move to a ROZ County.

All application are based on eligibility approval from the Kansas Department of Commerce!

Pheasants Forever Banquet

I just wanted to remind everyone about the Pheansant Forever Banquet that is this Saturday Night at the Russell Elks Lodge starting at 5pm.  I have been waiting all week for the Pheansant Forever Banquet so I can try to win a new gun for this year’s Pheasant Hunting in Russell County!! 

During the banquet there will be items being auctioned off.  Those items consist of Fine Art, Hunting & Fishing Items, and there will be 21 Guns that will be given away!!!  There will also be a Pretty in Pink Live Auction.  The Pretty in Pink Live Auction will consist of just for her- Pink Shotgun, Pink BG Logo Hat, Chaps, Shirt & Vest.  Throughout the evening there will be much more auction and raffles. 

Tickets for the banquet are still on sale at Sportsman’s Corner, Westside Propane & Convenience or any BG PF Member!!

“Storm Fury On The Plains”

I’m standing outside the Dream Theater, Downtown Russell, waiting for the Weather and Safety Presentation, “Storm Fury On The Plains” to start.  The presentation starts at 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
With the spring storms  just around the corner, I can’t wait to learn the basics of thunderstorms development, storms structure, the features to look for, and where to find them.  Storms have always interested me and now I can learn a little bit more about them. 
The session is a multimedia presentation, which will include detailed video.  The class will last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and no registration is required.

I just wanted to remind everyone, if you are interested in learning about how storms development and what to look for, please don’t forget about the Weather and Safety Presentation, Tonight at the Dream Theater, Downtown Russell, starting at 6:30pm!!!

Fossil Lake

I have been on Spring Break all week and today has finally been a nice day to do some fishing at Fossil Lake! Remember, you have to have a fishing license and you can only fish on the East side of the lake.

If you need something to do this weekend go out to Fossil Lake and catch a big fish just like I did today! I hope everybody has a great weekend!!!
